Rumpus Theatre Company are back again this Autumn with a spine-chilling new play based on the classic ghost story by H G Wells. The Red Room. comes to The Hawth Studio on Wednesday 8 November.

Everyone warned against it, but stubbornness is a curious thing… one night, entirely alone in an apparently haunted room. The Red Room throws all the classic ingredients in the air to create an edge-of-your-seat, up-to-the-minute take on H G Wells’ original tale, very much in the mould of last year’s gripping BBC series The Living and the Dead and with a few elements of Most Haunted thrown in for good measure! It’s a familiar scenario, but the outcome is totally unexpected and utterly terrifying!

2015’s The Haunted Dolls House was “truly chilling… excellent” (The Reviews Hub) while Captain Murderer in 2014 was “the most entertaining horror to hit the stage for some time… with excellent acting, sound and lighting… a tale so macabre that one may find oneself glancing repeatedly over one’s shoulder… delightfully despicable and fantastic fun” (

Last Autumn’s tour of H P Lovecraft’s The Haunting of Exham Priory was hugely popular with audiences, with social media comments such as “Fantastic evening being spellbound by the spine-tingling new @RumpusTheatreCo The Haunting of Exham Priory. Stunning” and “Thank you for a great night of suspense and creepiness … thoroughly enjoyed it … can’t wait to see what you do next year”.

Come and see this mesmerizing new take on H G Wells’ classic ghost story to find out…  enter the room… if you dare!

Tickets are priced £15 (discounts: £13) and available from Box Office 01293 553636 and online at
