GOODWOOD WINS TWO TOP TOURISM AWARDS IN A GOLDEN EVENING OF CELEBRATIONS
Staff at Goodwood are celebrating after scooping two gold awards for the best business venue and hotel at the annual Tourism South East awards.
The first win at The Beautiful South Awards for Excellence 2019 – 2020, was ‘Business Events Venue of the Year’ for the Goodwood Estate, which was followed up by a second win for ‘Large Hotel of the Year’.
Entertaining and Hospitality Managing Director, Andrew Coggings said: “We are incredibly proud to have collected these two prestigious awards. This is a tremendous achievement for our dedicated teams on the estate and at The Goodwood Hotel, who have contributed to us gaining recognition as the best in our class.”
The awards were celebrated with a dinner and ceremony at the Grand Hotel in Brighton on the 10th December 2019 – hosted by travel journalist and broadcaster Simon Calder. Eighty of the best tourism experiences and businesses in the South East were presented with gold, silver and bronze trophies in recognition of their achievements over the last 18 months and 24 businesses were commended.
Tourism South East covers a substantial area of the country, from Oxford down to Bournemouth and all the way along the south coast. Now, as winners of the Large Hotel of the Year and Business Events Venue of the Year, Goodwood will represent the South East in the National Visit England Awards, which will take place in early 2020.
The Goodwood Estate and Hotel were picked from this year’s applicants and mystery shopped by expert independent judges. This year saw a 40 per cent increase in the number of entries for the awards.
Chairman of Tourism South East, Mark Smith, said: “What a night! I was blown away by the sheer quality of the tourism businesses and experiences celebrating the trophies. Through some incredibly hard work, talent and determination, they have all achieved well deserved success and will be a great example to others. I am certain that they will inspire other businesses across the UK.”
