Dorset House School, set in the heart of the South Downs National Park in the village of Bury, near Pulborough, West Sussex, is a hidden gem of a prep school. They will be opening their doors on Saturday, March 18, 2017 between 9.30am – 12noon to invite prospective pupils to visit the school, and in addition they will also be hosting, an exhibition devoted to future schools, so parents can get an idea of what is within a two-hour radius of Dorset House School.

There will be a mixture of co-educational and single-sex schools; those based in towns or in the country; those offering boarding/flexi-boarding and day options. Visitors will be able to find out more and ask questions about the registration process, pre-tests, bursaries and scholarships. Representatives of 17 of these outstanding schools will be on hand to offer advice including: Ardingly, Bedales, Bradfield, Brighton College, Canford, Christ’s Hospital, Cranleigh, Hurst, Lancing, Marlborough, Pangbourne, Roedean, Seaford, Tonbridge, Wellington, Winchester and Wycombe Abbey.

As Headmaster, Matt Thomas, explains: “When considering an independent senior school education for your child, you will be faced with a daunting array of information.  Whether to join at 11+, 13+ or opt for sixth form entry at 16+ – it can be a confusing process. Also, if you are planning to move from state primary to independent school at 11+ (Year 7), are planning your 13+ (Year 9) senior school choices post common entrance, and can’t decide if boarding school is for your child. By attending our Future Schools Exhibition, you will have the opportunity to talk to different senior schools which in turn will help inform your decision.”

The exhibition will take place in the Great Barn at Dorset House School from and will run alongside an open morning for the school.  Here visitors will be able to meet the headmaster and members of the parents’ association and take a tour with a pupil. Forest school will be in full swing and current pupils will be enjoying a wide variety of activities including art, science and music.
