Ashdown Park Hotel’s charity hero to run 10K in aid of Chestnut Tree House
Ashdown Park Hotel’s personnel office administrator, Victoria James, has been hitting the pavements of East Sussex as she prepares to run the Worthing 10k on Sunday 4 June in aid of local charity, Chestnut Tree House.
The result of an incredible two years for Victoria, during which she has lost an impressive five stone in weight and completed the NHS’s ‘couch to 5K’ challenge, the self-confessed running novice was encouraged to sign up for the run by her brother.
The mother of two is hoping to raise at least £500 which she will donate to children’s charity Chestnut Tree House. This local charity provides children with life-shortening conditions and their families support and care services. Chestnut Tree House is also Ashdown Park’s championed charity for 2017 coffee mornings, which are planned monthly throughout the year to raise funds for the worthy cause.
Speaking of her plans to run the race, Victoria commented: “A few years ago, I would never even have contemplated going running, so to be embarking on this 10K challenge is really incredible for me. I am honoured to be running in aid of such a fantastic local charity, that does so much to help families in need, and am lucky enough to have the whole team at Ashdown Park behind me. I hope everyone can dig deep and help me to reach my target of £500 which will mean so much to the families and children Chestnut Tree House supports.”
Ben Booker, general manager at Ashdown Park, added: “We are incredibly proud of Victoria taking on the Worthing 10K and we wish her luck for the race in June. As a hotel, we take supporting our local community and local charities extremely seriously and have chosen Chestnut Tree House as our charity of choice for our coffee mornings in 2017.”
