Swarovski to present the Magnolia Cup at the Qatar Goodwood Festival
Goodwood Racecourse is delighted to announce that Swarovski is to be the presenting partner of the all-female Magnolia Cup on Ladies’ Day, Thursday 2 August, at The Qatar Goodwood Festival.
The Magnolia Cup, a flat-race first held in 2011, will feature twelve female riders competing at the Qatar Goodwood Festival in aid of Cancer Research UK. As an advocate for women’s empowerment, Swarovski will support this event for the second year running, which celebrates strong, inspirational women who are testing their limits in this challenging sport.
Swarovski’s support for sport and wellbeing goes back to 1895 when its founder, Daniel Swarovski, first encouraged his employees to live healthy and active lifestyles in the Austrian Alps, where he set up his company. Today, Swarovski continues to promote this ethos whilst shining a light on women’s empowerment with beautiful products that are responsibly sourced and made.
The Magnolia Cup riders are cancer researcher Dr Amanda Cross, recently qualified doctor and cancer survivor Dr Camilla Hickish, milliner Emily Baxendale, British model Rosie Tapner, businesswomen Shadi Halliwell and Katie Forrest, gallery manager Anna Rowlinson, and media professionals Lady Alice Manners, Victoria Gray, Sarah Cook, Camilla Swift and Holly Thomson.
The riders will wear stunning bespoke silks designed especially for the occasion by London-based Iranian designer Morvarid Sahafi of Morv London, an ethical womenswear brand with a focus on female empowerment.
Atelier Swarovski will adorn key attendees on the day with pieces from its latest jewellery collections. Created in collaboration with the world’s leading talents, and designed to push the boundaries of creativity, Atelier Swarovski’s unique offering empowers women to shine their brightest.
Nadja Swarovski, who will present the winning rider with a Swarovski crystal trophy, commented; “We are delighted to partner again this year with Goodwood to support the strong women taking part in the race at the Magnolia Cup. It is an inspirational moment in the sporting calendar, empowering amazing amateur riders to race at the highest level and raising vital funds to fight cancer.”
The Duke of Richmond & Gordon, Chairman of Goodwood Racecourse, said; “It is an absolute pleasure to partner with Swarovski for a second successive year for the Magnolia Cup. One of the great highlights of the Goodwood season, it is always a thrill to see these brave women competing for the trophy and raising valuable funds for the life-saving work carried out by Cancer Research UK in fighting cancers which particularly effect women.”
