Summer Marquee on Hastings Pier

Hastings Pier Charity is excited to announce its five-week, Summer Marquee programme of fun family events on Hastings Pier from Saturday 29th July until Thursday 31st August. There will be a range of activities and entertainment for all ages, from traditional seaside bingo and jazz brunches, to huge water slides and animatronic dinosaurs!

For the first week (Saturday 29th July – Friday 4th August), the marquee will be transformed into a Roller Disco. Skate around the marquee to your favourite tunes.

Visitors to the pier from Monday 7th until Monday 14th August are invited to bring their swimmers and enjoy exhilarating rides down two water slides. The Giant Water Slide is the largest, standing at an impressive 50ft high and over 120ft long, while the Mega Water Slide is a little smaller at 30ft high and 60ft long.

Dino Days1

Dino Days will take place on Saturday 5th and Saturday 26th August. There will be four chances on each day to see the giant T-Rex and adorable baby dinosaurs – an immersive, memorable experience for all the family.

Other Surprise Saturday events include a Kids Cooking Class (delivered by Kitchen Academy) on 12th August, and David Wilde’s Punch & Judy shows – plus free entry to a Punch & Judy-themed craft workshop – on 19th August.

Movie Mondays will have three showings (at 11am, 2pm and 5pm) of family favourite films, including The Lego Movie on 7th August, The Little Mermaid on 14th August, Trolls on 21st August and Moana on 28th August.

On Tuesdays the pier will welcome some fantastic local musical talent for Jazz Brunches. Entertainment will be provided by Bluesette (ft Helen Sharpe and Jonas Larsson) on 8th August, Dom Pipkin and the Ikos on 15th August, Rob Leake on 22nd August and Chantelle Duncan on 29th August. Ticketholders will also be treated to a delicious brunch, with a fish, meat or gluten free/vegan option available.

Craft Wednesdays, delivered by Hastings Pier Charity’s Learning & Education Department, will take place on 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th August, with each week themed around the other marquee activities. From dinosaur hats and sand ‘fossils’ to treasure boxes and kaleidoscopes, there will be an activity to suit all little ones – and you can take your creation home!

Those seeking traditional seaside activities will enjoy Bingo Thursdays in the marquee on 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st August. Seaside Family Bingo will take place from 2pm-5pm, and a vintage-inspired Cheap Thrills Bonkers Bingo (think Hi-de-Hi meets The Mighty Boosh) will be held from 7pm-10pm.

Laurie Temple will perform his magic show at 10.30am and 1pm for Magic Fridays on 11th, 18th and 25th August. Laurie Temple has been delighting audiences with his unique style of performing for the past 20 years in England, Europe and America. Experienced in film, TV, theatre, circus and cabaret, his warm and friendly manner combined with hilarious clowning always gets audiences actively involved!

Dino Days 2

DJ Daniel Mayes will be playing a relaxed Ibiza/house set for Chill Out Sundays on 13th, 20th and 27th August, which visitors can enjoy for free from 1pm-7pm. Come and enjoy some great music with a drink in the marquee and unwind at the end of the week.

Sunday 13th August will also see an appearance from Dizzy O’Dare, who will be performing his highly-entertaining Giant Balloon Show at 11am and 1.30pm. These shows will also be free to enjoy.
