Stamic String Quartet Sat 25 February, 7.45pm, The Hawth Studio
The Stamic String Quartet will be performing in The Hawth Studio on Saturday 25 February.
The Stamic Quartet from Prague, was founded in 1985 is named after Jan Václav Stamic, the 18th Century Czech composer and violinist from Havlíčkův Brod, the hometown of two of the quartet members.
The quartet, made up of Jindřich Pazdera (violin), Josef Kekula (violin), Jan Pěruška (viola) and Petr Hejný (cello) has long been a major feature of musical life in Prague and is much respected for both concerts and teaching.
The programme will include Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet Op. 71/1 followed by the rarely performed String Quartet No. 1 by Geraldine Mucha and will conclude with String Quartet Op. 105 composed by Antonín Dvořák.
This will be a wonderful treat for classical music fans.
