Peter Pan opens at The Hawth
The Hawth’s annual pantomime Peter Pan opened last week to fantastic reviews and audience acclaim. Based upon J. M. Barrie’s original play, the story of the boy who refuses to grow up is given plenty of pantomime magic, with hilarious slapstick humour, uplifting musical numbers, thrilling special effects and of course lots of audience participation.
Wendy Darling and her brothers John and Michael are visited in their Nursery by Peter Pan and his friend Tinkerbell the fairy. With the help of a little fairy dust Peter and the children fly to Neverland home of Peter, Tinkerbell, the lost boys, Native Indians, Mermaids and Pirates. The pirates are led by the villainous Captain Hook who is intent on defeating Peter Pan and claiming Wendy to be the pirate’s mother.
Peter Pan has an all-star cast led by EastEnders’ Emma Barton as Tinkerbell and Shaun Williamson (EastEnders, Extras), who sheds his loveable image to become the villainous Captain Hook. Richard David-Caine and Joseph Elliott play the hilarious pirate duo from CBeebies’ Swashbuckle are onboard ship together with Michael J. Batchelor who plays the hilarious Mrs Smee. Crawley favourite Hilary O’Neil also makes a return visit to The Hawth to play multiple roles this year as Mrs Darling, Big Chief Squatting Cow and Myrtle the mermaid.
Peter Pan runs until Monday 2 January. Tickets are available from The Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 or by visiting hawth.co.uk.
