Interiors hub Ashbee & co launches in Rye
Pared-down global style gives market town a breath of fresh air
Solène Boyer and Nicholas Sinclair, the combined creative force behind Back From Black Beam Renovation, have opened interiors shop Ashbee & co in Rye.
Over the years, while visiting countless clients’ houses, the duo developed a passion for interiors. this, combined with Frenchwoman Solène’s innate sense of style, was the perfect foundation for branching out. When a Grade-II listed building with a stunning frontage on Rye High Street came up for sale, they leapt at the chance to set up an interiors shop. Not wishing to conceal the original Ashbee & Son sign, they incorporated the name into their new venture – and Ashbee & co was born.
Solène has searched high and low to source simple but beautiful products from around the world. She sells everything from knotted moroccan rugs to swedish lambswool throws. The shop features furniture, tableware, soft furnishings and much more. There are also plans afoot for the couple to relocate the Back From Black HQ to the shop and also to offer an interior design service, meaning Ashbee & co will become a real hub for all things home. Solène says, “I have been lucky enough to be inspired by many beautiful houses and so setting up a lifestyle shop was a natural progression. As well as plans to offer design services from the shop, we will also be selling our products online.”
