Alexander Hotels Expands Hotel Portfolio

Alexander Hotels and Utopia Spas, a luxury boutique hotel company located within the south of England are pleased to announce the acquisition of Barnett Hill Venue, Guildford Surrey.

Originally owned and managed as a conference facility, Barnett Hill is a beautifully inspired Queen Anne style property located within the remarkable Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty.

Bought in mid-September 2016 by Utopia Leisure Limited, the property will now undergo a full renovation programme; including all bedrooms and public areas. A sympathetic approach will be made to the renovation; with owners Peter and Deborah Hinchcliffe keen to maintain the venues historic charm.

A change of ownership will mark a momentous occasion for this one time convalescent hospital; previously owned and used by the Red Cross and St John War organisation to aid the recovery of war veterans.

Barnett Hill currently operates with 19 conference suites and 58 bedrooms, including two private garden Lodges. Barnett Hill will remain fully functional while renovations take place whilst also making delightful culinary updates including our favourite indulgent British Tradition ‘ Afternoon Tea’ which will be served daily; and also traditional Sunday Lunch within the properties main restaurant.

For those of you not already familiar with the privately owned and intriguingly unique Alexander Hotels and Utopia Spa’s group, the 3 exquisite hotels; including the 5-star Alexander House Hotel, 4-red star Langshott Manor and 4-star Rowhill Grange Hotel are set on the borders of Sussex, Surrey and Kent; and are conveniently located for Gatwick Airport and central London.

Tim Hall will continue his role as General Manager of Barnett Hill; with Director of Operations, Ian Heath overseeing the hotels renovation project.

Owners, Peter and Deborah Hinchcliffe state ‘We have recently celebrated 21years of Alexander Hotels and our passion for our properties and the industry continues to grow. Our three current hotels have achieved tremendous success and the time is now right for us to embark on a new adventure; somewhere we can continue to make our mark and add to our Alexander Hotels family. The moment we first saw Barnett Hill, we knew this property would work for us, it showcases considerable potential to be an award winning, iconic hotel in Surrey and the UK and we are truly delighted to start a new journey with this property.
