AirS Celebrates Sussex Day with Charity Cycle Challenge!
Independent charity Action in Rural Sussex (AirS) today reveals its special Sussex Day cycle tour on Friday 16 June 2017. Sussex Day is the charity’s official birthday and staff are planning to cycle right across the county, from West-East, to raise funds and promote the exceptional work of volunteers at village halls and community buildings along the way.
Starting off at Fishbourne and ending in Beckley, the intrepid cycling team will pass through Washington, Beechwood, Ringmer, Herstmonceux and Battle villages. Several of the village volunteer teams are using the day as an opportunity to raise essential funds for themselves, as well to celebrate all things Sussex and what’s great about the county.
Jeremy Leggett, CEO of AirS, commented: “We’ve dusted off our bikes and have been training hard for what promises to be a really fun day. Not only are we promoting our own charity, we want to shine a light on the tireless and often unsung work of local village volunteers. Every penny we raise will stay local, helping to continue our work and ensure that our village halls and community buildings are loved and protected for generations to come.”
Established in 1931, AirS helps rural communities with a wide range of services, from helping to build affordable homes, to family outreach services for children with special needs. Donations can be made to its Sussex Day cycle ride via My Donate: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/tomwarder1 or via the donate page on its website: https://www.ruralsussex.org.uk/donate/. In addition, the #SussexDay and #Airscycle2017 are being used to help promote the event on social media.
